9th Grade
My 9th Grade Self
As a middle schooler, I always looked at my high-school years as an endeavor full of challenges and the eventual discovery of my passion that I would continue to pursue for the rest of my life. When I started my freshman year, I was very excited to get immersed in the projects and work through challenges that we would work on and encounter. I already had a positive impression of the curriculum that we would study this year and started to see how my freshman year would help me prepare for future grades and college. I sensed that the school year would be strong as a whole, but I also imagined that I would be met with challenges in different subjects such as mathematics and engineering science that I would need to persevere through and learn from. At this point, I knew that I would be taking honors science which included participating in the science fair. I had started researching different topics and hoped that the knowledge that I gained about engineering concepts in science would help me work on my science fair project of creating a system that uses harvested wastage heat in homes using thermoelectric generators to power devices. At the start of the school year, I predicted that 9th grade would equip me with critical skills such as presentation, critical thinking, writing, etc. to prepare me for my sophomore year and years beyond. Looking back at the year, I see how I have changed to become a more efficient worker while producing high-quality work. I also learned how to balance more responsibilities between my extracurricular activities and my school-work. After completing this year, I have become more confident in being able to engage in more pursuits while also completing work that is required to be done, through working hard and efficiently. This will be useful next year in order to do well in 10th grade as well as continue to succeed in extracurricular activities.

My 10th Grade Readiness

After going through my freshman year, I was introduced to many new skills and concepts that I will be carrying forward in the years to come. After completing the multiple discussions in Language Arts, working through different geometry worksheets, revising my artwork, and learning about our world's history, I feel more confident in the activities that I complete. Looking back as a new freshman last September, I realize how much I have grown as an overall student to pay more attention to the quality of work that I was producing and to continue to work hard. If I had to choose one quality that I used repeatedly this year and will continue to use, it would be persistence. Through all of the work that I have completed, I always ran into some of kind of challenge, whether it be small or large, that I had to overcome with persistence. Persistence was used by seeking other outside resources that would help me overcome the arising problems that I met. I know that as upper-classman I will be met with more deadlines and larger assignments, in which persistence will be vital to master. As a sophomore, I hope to use the knowledge I gain in school to accomplish my goals with my after-school activities such as assisting me in my science fair project to get into prestigious science fairs or applying the skills I learn to become an advantageous competitor at robotics competitions.
