In 2018, I became a speaker at the TEDxYouth Dayton 2018 event held at Wright State. I spoke on the topic of my science fair project my freshman year. In this project, I was investigating how to use natural resources such as hot water, cold water, fire, and snow to produce electricity using thermoelectric generators. I then used these resources to power a small device such as a toy train that had four LED lightbulbs and played Christmas Carols. I am currently a "Youth Co-Chair" on the TEDxYouth Dayton board.
This is a video showing the process of using fire, snow, and thermoelectric generators to power this toy train.

TEDxYouth gave me an opportunity to talk to a wider audience about my research and allowed me to have the experience of being able to present to a larger audience. The months that I worked with my mentors and peers to perfect the talk, not only taught me how to effectively bring content across but also allowed me to network with adults and connect with students my age making an impact in various areas. I will never forget the feeling of standing up on the stage and realizing that it was my voice discussing research that has a potential for impact.
I am now a Youth Co-Chair on the TEDxYouthDayton Board to mentor future speakers and determine the logistics of the annual event.
